# Get distance after moving node using handle operator

Please see this [post regarding customizing the HandleOperator](https://forum.techsoft3d.com/t/operator-for-advanced-handle-placement/455). Of note is subclassing from `OperatorBase`, for example, `class CustomHandleOperator extends Communicator.Operators.OperatorBase {}`.

Also, there are geometry handle [callbacks](https://docs.techsoft3d.com/communicator/latest/api_ref/viewing/interfaces/CallbackMap.html#callbackmap) that could prove useful. Please take a look at `handleEvent`, `handleEventStart`, `handleEventEnd`.
