# Performance issue when turning hardware acceleration on if Windows language pack is installed

If hardware acceleration is switched on/off in AutoCAD, performance problems arise.  
The cause was determined through in-depth analysis. Attached is a video showing how it was received.  
**Here is a short description:**  
Switching hardware acceleration on takes several seconds.

- AutoCAD is started with hardware acceleration on. ViewCube works normally.
- User switches hardware acceleration off. ViewCube works normally.
- User switches hardware acceleration on.
- Up to 20 seconds the viewcube does not respond to MouseOver and complete AutoCAD is not responding!
- The screen turns black for a few seconds
- Then the viewcube re-appers and works normally.  
So there was no response for about 25 seconds

**Reason:**  
The behavior occurs when a second Windows operating system language pack is installed and the  
Windows display language is changed. The behavior could be reproduced on different computers with AutoCAD OEM 2024 and AutoCAD 2024.

**Solution\Workaround:**  
The reason for this is an entry that is created in the registry of the operating system by Windows:  
[HKEY\_CURRENT\_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]  
“PreferredUILanguages”=hex(7):65,00,6e,00,2d,00,55,00,53,00,00,00,00,00  
If you delete the entry everything works fine again.
