AutoCAD OEM 2025/2026 freezing after Windows 11 — hotfix

Hi,

seems that some product based on AutoCAD OEM 2025 and 2026 products freeze when opening drawings after Windows 11 update KB5083769. Could be the same issue Autodesk documented for retail AutoCAD ? or not? Renaming AdDownloaderCore.dll works around it, but that’s not a real fix to ship to customers.

Autodesk released a retail hotfix (AutoCAD_Freeze_Hotfix_for_Win_11.zip), but there’s no guidance for OEM. does the hotfix work with OEM? Our questions:

  1. Is that hotfix supported on OEM 2025/2026, and can we redistribute it?
  2. If not, when will an OEM fix be available?
  3. Can AdDownloaderCore be safely excluded from OEM builds?

Hi Bruno,

the (many) issues caused by Microsoft with KB5083769 were resolved by Microsoft itself via two subsequent update packages: KB5083631 (Preview released in late April 2026), which unblocked the BITS service queues, and KB5089549, a subsequent cumulative update that officially replaced and superseded patch KB5083769, permanently including all fixes for the BITS service.

To resolve this, we have required our clients to keep their operating systems up to date, in compliance with GDPR requirements. I hope this helps.
