SCZ Conversion Memory Issue & Incremental Loading

Hi TechSoft3D Team,

I have a 1 GB NWD file which, when converting to SCZ, consumes around 64 GB of RAM and get Stuck. Is there a way to perform this conversion without exhausting system memory?

I noticed there’s support for incremental loading, but it’s not available for Navisworks files. Is there any method to convert using a custom approach that enables incremental loading, or a way to reduce memory usage during conversion?

Thanks,

A CAD file of ~1 GB in size would be considered a large file. So what can be perceived as stuck may be just the converter taking a long(er) time to complete the operation. Also, high RAM utilization is not necessarily a bad thing in the instance where idle memory is being optimally leveraged to complete a given task.

Incrementatl loading is a feature that won’t help with RAM utilization in the conversion process. Incremental loading is an Exchange feature that manages selective loading to better manage RAM usage. The distinction here is loading the model versus converting the model to Stream Cache.

Thanks for the response,

So, how can we efficiently convert large models (1 GB or larger) from NWD to SCZ using the HOOPS converter? Currently, during the conversion process, the system consumes all 64 GB of RAM, causing it to become unresponsive. No other processes are running on the machine during this operation. Is there a way to optimize memory usage to handle such large files without exhausting system resources?

Are you at liberty to send us the source NWD file? If so, I can send you a file transfer link (to your profile email) to upload it our file transfer site.

Also, what do you mean by “exhausting system resources”? Is the machine no longer responsive for the entire duration of the conversion, and as a result, you can only do one conversion at a time?
