Updating Hoops dlls makes my app unable to run on a virtual machine

Hello community, I’m working in a custom desktop app targeting .net framework and we are consuming Hoops Visualize Hps.

We were using hps dlls version 24.1.0.1020 and now we updated them to version 25.2.

This change made our app unable to use hoops visualize on a virtual machine. We checked runtime and redistributables comparing vm’s with a local pc where our app runs well, we pair the vm with the same redistributables and runtime but the issue persist.

I’m well aware that Hoops is not giving support for Virtual Machines and I know they say in his documentation that direct access to GPU is needed.. But I wanted to know if there’s any known workaround for this issue or if there’s any release note indicating this change between versions.

Thanks for reading!

Hello @lautaro.rivero,

Please see the library compatability information table for HPS 2025.2.0 and HPS 2024.1.0 as there could be changes affecting your particular VM setup.

Also, of note is that support for x86 architecture ended with the release of HPS 2024.8.0.

Thanks,
Tino
