Revit Import/Export workflows supported by Inventor OEM

Did you know there’s support for import and export of Revit models and Revit data in an Inventor OEM based product? This is equal to other Inventor family of products. Here’s a short description.

First make sure to enable the ‘BIM Exchange’ feature in the OEM Configurator:

In your Inventor OEM based product, to import a RVT model, simply go to File → Open → Import CAD Files:

Select RVT file type and then pick the file:

You can read more about the procedure here:

If you want to play with the export as well there are two options, .RFA workflow where you can use the tools in the BIM Content Environment to create MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) connectors that allow your product to be connected to the building system.
BIM Content publishes 2D and 3D IPT design data:

As Revit geometry (simple solid) to a Revit Family (.RFA)
As an Industry Foundation Classes (.IFC) file. Inventor provides IFC2x3 output.
As an Autodesk Exchange File (.ADSK):

…or .RVT export:

Here’s a simple RVT export workflow for a sample assembly:

Before exporting you need to simplify the model, either by running the ‘Simplify’ feature separately or integrated with the export feature as shown below.
Select File → Export → RVT:
